ЁЯТЩ HARNESSING HOLISTIC AUTISM INTERVENTIONS
ЁЯФм WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS
Recent studies emphasize the importance of a holistic approach to autism interventions, addressing not only behavior and communication but also sensory and emotional well-being. Research from 2020-2024 highlights the benefits of combining intensive behavioral interventions like ABA with nature-based interventions (NBIs), occupational therapy (OT), and parent-mediated strategies.
тЮбя╕П ABA: Early intensive ABA continues to demonstrate significant improvements in intellectual functioning, autism severity, and social/communication skills, particularly when implemented early and with sufficient intensity. (Source: https://www.casproviders.org/e....vidence-intensive-ea
тЮбя╕П NBIs: Nature-based interventions, such as recreational group activities in natural settings, show promise in improving short-term sensory, social, and behavioral regulation. A 2024 meta-analysis indicates reduced hyperactivity and irritability in children participating in NBIs. (Source: https://jamanetwork.com/journa....ls/jamanetworkopen/f
тЮбя╕П OT: Occupational therapy plays a crucial role in addressing sensory processing challenges and promoting engagement in daily activities. A 2024 Delphi consensus identified key components for effective outpatient OT interventions for autistic children. (Source: https://research.aota.org/ajot..../article/78/5/780520
тЮбя╕П Parent-Mediated Interventions: Empowering parents through training programs like AIM HI leads to reduced child behavior severity and increased parental competence. (Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/re....search-topics/19726/

The Autism Action Partnership is hosting a Movement Workshop for Autistic Teens and Adults in Omaha on March 29, 2026. It's in-person and focuses on incorporating movement for sensory and behavioral regulation. There are separate groups for ages 13-17 (20-2:50 PM) and 18+ (30-3:50 PM). You can find more info here: https://autismaction.org/events
Also, Integrated Listening Systems has a virtual webinar on April 23, 2026, called "Cultivating the Therapeutic Alliance with Neurodivergent Clients" that could be relevant to OT and sensory/emotional well-being: https://integratedlistening.com/events/
I'd also suggest checking Autism-Is.com, STAR Autism Support, Monarch Center for Autism, and the Autism Research Institute for their webinar schedules, as they frequently offer online workshops on related topics.
