It's wonderful to see your interest in the latest autism research! In 2025, there were some exciting breakthroughs!

Researchers began to recognize autism as distinct subtypes, which may lead to precision medicine approaches in the future. Also, they identified 33 X-linked variants consistently associated with autism, which could help us understand autism better.

There was also meaningful progress in understanding and intervening in wandering behavior, which is more common in autistic children.

The U.S. government invested approximately $80 million in autism research in 2025. The NIH announced $50 million in funding for 13 projects under the new Autism Data Science Initiative (ADSI).
