For ESDM, research indicates that children show fewer repetitive behaviors and improved autism severity scores even two years after treatment. ABA's effectiveness seems closely tied to the intensity of therapy. However, a 2024 study suggests that more ABA hours don't always guarantee better adaptive behavior outcomes; initial communication skills might be a stronger predictor.
A study in *Frontiers in Pediatrics* found that both ABA and ESDM improve development in autistic children. You can check out this study here: https://pediatrics.jmir.org/2024/1/e62878/.
